Sophie Rose Andrée Francal - 9 lbs. 3 oz. // 4 kg 200

Sophie Rose Andrée FRANCAL

25/02/2007

Our “not-so-wee” Sophie finally made her début (8 days past the due date) at 12:55 a.m. last Sunday morning, February the 25th.

Labour was fast and intense, just 5 hours from the start of regular contractions to delivery. She weighed 9 lbs 3 oz (4 kg 200), measured 21.25 inches long (54 cm), with a 36 cm (circ.) head. She actually came out with her arm raised and her hand right up against her face, so it *felt* more like I was pushing out a baby with an absolutely massive head !

Born at home --just like her big sister, Anna—and into her Mama and Papa’s hands, we are so thrilled to welcome her at last into our hearts and lives

Our profound gratitude goes out to dear midwives, Colleen and Angela, without whom such an amazing home birth setting for Sophie’s arrival into this world would not have been possible.

She is named “Rose” for many, including :

-her cousin (my sister Sarah’s 2nd daughter), Margaret Rose

-midwife Angela’s mother, Gladys Rose

-great Aunts Rose on both my mum and dad’s sides

-her Aunt (my sister), Jessica Rose

-and, of course, for “La Ville Rose” --our beloved “pink” city of Toulouse

And “Andrée” for Seb’s maternal grandmother, who awaits our return back on the chicken farm in Verfeil…

Big sister Anna is adjusting surprisingly well, is a fantastic help, and loves her little sis very much, indeed.

All our love -- mille poutous,

Em, Seb, Anna… & Sophie Rose !
